Description
The Woodland Scenics P378 Adjustable Stick-On Weights come from Woodland's PineCar line, but they work just as well for bringing light freight cars up to a proper running weight. The package holds two 1 oz (28.3 g) lead-free weights plus double-stick tape. The weights are thin (about 1/8") and can be divided into smaller pieces with pliers, so you can add just the amount a car needs and tuck it under the floor, inside the body or between the center sills.
Cars that are too light are easy to derail, especially in long trains. Bringing them up to the NMRA recommended weight (RP-20.1) helps them track much better: for N scale that's 1/2 oz plus 0.15 oz per inch of car length, and for HO it's 1 oz plus 1/2 oz per inch.
