Description
General Electric introduced the ES44AC in 2005 as the AC-traction member of its Evolution Series, the first North American road locomotive built to meet EPA Tier 3 emissions standards. Powered by the 12-cylinder GEVO prime mover producing 4,400 hp, the ES44AC quickly became the backbone of heavy-haul fleets across the continent, and thousands remain in daily service hauling coal, grain, intermodal and manifest freight.
This Walthers Mainline HO scale ES44AC Tier 3 models Iowa Interstate's America 250 commemorative unit #510 in the railroad's black, red and yellow colours with the America 250 eagle emblem on the long hood — a popular regional on the former Rock Island main line between Chicago and Council Bluffs.
