Description
Before the Bombardier Bilevel arrived in 1977, GO Transit's commuter fleet was built around the Hawker Siddeley single-level coach — built in Canada and configured for GO's high-density push-pull service on the Lakeshore line. These cars were the workhorse of Toronto-area commuter rail through the late 1960s and 1970s, and they later moved on to AMT (Montréal) for continued commuter duty. As GO and Metrolinx celebrate the 60th anniversary of commuter rail in the GTA in 2027, the Hawker single-level coach and cab car finally arrive in HO scale alongside the GP40TC and APCU.
Rapido's HO Hawker single-level cars are scaled from blueprints and field measurements with a full multi-colour interior featuring individually installed seats, complete underbody with separate piping and conduit, track-powered interior lighting backed by Rapido's MoPower capacitor for uninterrupted illumination, separate metal grab irons, and free-rolling ball-bearing wheelsets. Cab cars include detailed cab interior, working headlight and three-colour class lights — perfect for either end of a GO push-pull consist.
Available in GO Transit early (green/white) and late (stripes) schemes plus AMT Montréal, both as cab cars and as coaches with prototypical road numbers. Pairs and trios complement the GP40TC and APCU releases for a complete 60th-anniversary GO Transit fleet. Pre-orders require a 25% deposit; balance collected when stock arrives.
