The Rapido 702501 is an HO scale Canadian Light Rail Vehicle (CLRV) streetcar #4004 in the early red, black and white scheme the CLRVs wore when they took over Toronto's streetcar routes from 1979, with original couplers — DC/DCC/Sound with a factory-installed ESU LokSound decoder and full lighting including brake lights and turn signals. The factory-installed destination sign reads 504 Dundas West Station.

When most North American cities were scrapping their streetcars in the 1970s, Toronto's citizens pushed the TTC to keep them — and the Canadian Light Rail Vehicle was the result. With Ontario government funding the TTC bought 200 CLRVs, the first entering service on the 507 Long Branch in late 1979, and for forty years they were the face of the system until retirement in 2019. Rapido's model is 3D-scanned from a real CLRV and is the first fully assembled, ready-to-run HO CLRV with sound.

  • Accurately scaled from a 3D scan of the prototype and original drawings
  • Power from the track or combined trolley pole and track pickup; all-wheel pickup, truck-mounted motors
  • Road-number-specific details including original couplers or front skirts; factory-applied destination sign with alternate decals where appropriate
  • Fully functioning "Short Turn" flag sign on the front where appropriate; detailed interior with seats and operator controls
  • Full exterior and interior lighting including brake lights and turn signals (DCC only)
  • MoPower capacitor for uninterrupted DCC running; suggested minimum radius 9"
