The Rapido 16845 is an HO scale Budd RDC-1, CN track evaluation car #1501 — DC/DCC/Sound with a factory-installed ESU LokSound decoder. First time in plastic, with CN's rebuilt sides and ends with plated-over windows, track-pointed red laser lights, working strobe and inspection lights, LED headlights and ditch lights, side mirrors, and a P5 horn and E-bell.
Budd's stainless-steel Rail Diesel Car carried passengers on branch lines and commuter runs across North America for more than 60 years. This Rapido run adds the RDC-9 — the cab-less, single-motor "powered trailer" Budd built for the Boston & Maine in 1956, most of which later ran for CN and VIA until 1988 — alongside RDC-1s in a long list of new schemes and VIA Rail's 2010s rebuilds.
