The Rapido 16801 is an HO scale pair of Budd RDC-1s, Santa Fe DC-191 and DC-192 as delivered — DC/DCC/Sound with a factory-installed ESU LokSound decoder. Santa Fe bought the two in 1952, fitted them with Automatic Train Stop for 80 mph running and painted only one end of each, because they always ran as a set: yellow "cat whiskers" with the square ATSF emblem on the front door. They held down trains 80–83 until their accident at Redondo Junction.
Budd's stainless-steel Rail Diesel Car carried passengers on branch lines and commuter runs across North America for more than 60 years. This Rapido run adds the RDC-9 — the cab-less, single-motor "powered trailer" Budd built for the Boston & Maine in 1956, most of which later ran for CN and VIA until 1988 — alongside RDC-1s in a long list of new schemes and VIA Rail's 2010s rebuilds.
