The Rapido 145028 is a 3-car set (cab car #8274 and coaches #7310 and #7348) of Budd gallery commuter cars in the Metra Modern Logo scheme.
Budd built these stainless-steel bilevel "gallery" commuter cars for Chicago service. Milwaukee Road ordered coaches and cab cars in 1961 and 1964, Rock Island added its own in 1965, and the RTA — Metra's predecessor — bought a large fleet in 1978. Milwaukee often ran them behind HEP-equipped E units, sometimes just one E unit and a single cab car, while Rock Island's stainless cars ran alongside its colourful Pullman equipment. The Budd cars are still Metra's largest coach fleet, and many former cab cars now run as dummy cabs.
