The Rapido 1084040 is an HO scale three-car set of Comet I commuter cars — cab car #5119 and coaches #1715 and #1728 — in the NJ TRANSIT Tiger Stripes scheme (1985+); the set pairs one high-door cab car with two low-door trailer coaches. Cab cars assigned to NJ TRANSIT's Atlantic City service in the early 1990s received high-visibility orange-and-black "tiger stripes" on the cab end.
Erie Lackawanna's 155 Pullman-Standard "Dieseliners" of the early 1970s — rebuilt by Bombardier for NJ TRANSIT in 1985–87 — are the original Comets, and this is the first time they have been offered as a fully detailed ready-to-run HO model. Match them with Rapido's U34CH and F40PH-2CAT locomotives.
