The Rapido 1084035 is an HO scale three-car set of Comet I commuter cars — cab car #5100 and coaches #1701 and #1740 — in the NJ TRANSIT As-Refurbished scheme (1985+); the set pairs one high-door cab car with two low-door trailer coaches. Bombardier rebuilt the ex-Erie Lackawanna Comet I fleet for NJ TRANSIT between 1985 and 1987; the cars kept their brushed-aluminum bodies and gained the NJT stripes.
Erie Lackawanna's 155 Pullman-Standard "Dieseliners" of the early 1970s — rebuilt by Bombardier for NJ TRANSIT in 1985–87 — are the original Comets, and this is the first time they have been offered as a fully detailed ready-to-run HO model. Match them with Rapido's U34CH and F40PH-2CAT locomotives.
