The Rapido 1043528 is an HO scale rebuilt F40PH-3 in the Metra City of Chicago Wrap scheme, road number #104 — DC/DCC/Sound with a factory-installed ESU LokSound 5 decoder. Metra F40PH-3 #104 wears the City of Chicago flag wrap — sky-blue stripes and red stars on white — one of the most photographed locomotives in Chicagoland.
Built by EMD from 1976 for Amtrak and quickly adopted by commuter agencies across Canada and the United States, the 3,000 hp F40PH is the most popular passenger locomotive of the last fifty years. Rapido's 2026 run adds all-new late-production Q-fan bodies plus the F40PH-3 and F40PH-2CAT rebuild variations, with road-specific ditch lights, bells, strobes and PTC antennas where appropriate.
