The Rapido 1024006A is a single HO scale National Steel Car 89' bi-level open autorack in the Canadian National Late scheme (1985+), with one road number from the series #710003, #710031, #710053, #710055, #710073, #710088. A black bi-level with full-height safety mesh screens and the CN logo, as the cars ran from the mid-1980s into the 2000s. Also available as a six-pack of all six numbers (item 1024006).
Canadian National and Canadian Pacific took their first 89' autoracks in 1962 — Whitehead & Kales racks on National Steel Car flats from Hamilton, Ontario — and the bi-level version followed in 1964 to carry light trucks and utility vehicles, with further orders through 1970 (202 for CP, 125 for CN). Open-design cars with safety screens, many ran well into the early 2000s carrying modern vehicles, so they suit layouts set anywhere from the mid-1960s to the 2000s. This is the first time the NSC 89' autorack has been offered as a highly detailed ready-to-run plastic model.
