The Rapido 1024006 is a six-pack of HO scale National Steel Car 89' bi-level open autoracks in the Canadian National Late scheme (1985+) — road numbers #710003, #710031, #710053, #710055, #710073, #710088. A black bi-level with full-height safety mesh screens and the CN logo, as the cars ran from the mid-1980s into the 2000s. Six different numbers in one box make an instant block of autoracks for a 1960s–2000s CN or CP auto train.

Canadian National and Canadian Pacific took their first 89' autoracks in 1962 — Whitehead & Kales racks on National Steel Car flats from Hamilton, Ontario — and the bi-level version followed in 1964 to carry light trucks and utility vehicles, with further orders through 1970 (202 for CP, 125 for CN). Open-design cars with safety screens, many ran well into the early 2000s carrying modern vehicles, so they suit layouts set anywhere from the mid-1960s to the 2000s. This is the first time the NSC 89' autorack has been offered as a highly detailed ready-to-run plastic model.

  • Newly tooled from original National Steel Car blueprints and measurements
  • Full underbody detail and air-line piping; separate metal grab irons
  • Etched-metal safety mesh screens on appropriate cars
  • Semi-scale metal knuckle couplers; free-rolling trucks with profiled metal wheelsets
  • Suggested minimum radius 22"
