The Rapido 1024002A is a single HO scale National Steel Car 89' bi-level open autorack in the Canadian Pacific Script (Large Panel) scheme (1964+), with one road number from the series #540024, #540031, #540040, #540043, #540052, #540078. A black bi-level with the large white script "Canadian Pacific" panels. Also available as a six-pack of all six numbers (item 1024002).
Canadian National and Canadian Pacific took their first 89' autoracks in 1962 — Whitehead & Kales racks on National Steel Car flats from Hamilton, Ontario — and the bi-level version followed in 1964 to carry light trucks and utility vehicles, with further orders through 1970 (202 for CP, 125 for CN). Open-design cars with safety screens, many ran well into the early 2000s carrying modern vehicles, so they suit layouts set anywhere from the mid-1960s to the 2000s. This is the first time the NSC 89' autorack has been offered as a highly detailed ready-to-run plastic model.
