The Rapido 1017009 is an HO scale Santa Fe CF7 with the square cab in the Mexicana de Cobre SA de CV scheme, road number #F.11.9 — DC/Silent (21-pin DCC-ready). Copper miner Mexicana de Cobre took a pair of CF7s south to Sonora for its mine-to-smelter railway at Nacozari — a rarely modelled Mexican industrial prototype in plain grey with black lettering.

Santa Fe's Cleburne Shops rebuilt 233 tired F7 cab units into CF7 road switchers between 1969 and 1978 — one of the most successful locomotive rebuild programs of all time. Sold off to regionals and short lines in the mid-1980s, CF7s are still earning their keep today in California, Florida, Texas and beyond. Rapido's 2026 run adds ditch lights on appropriate road names and covers five cab and two hood variations with road-number-specific details.

  • Square-cab CF7 with the correct open or closed sill assembly for this road number
  • Working headlights, ground lights, number boards, beacon and ditch lights (where appropriate)
  • Separate metal grab irons and handrails, etched grills and steps
  • Full multi-colour cab interior with lighted gauges
  • Incredible underbody detail — piping, draft gear, sand lines
  • Heavy die-cast chassis; suggested minimum radius 18"
  • 21-pin DCC-ready socket — add your own decoder
