Description
The Rapido 033529 is an HO scale MLW M420 + M420B set in British Columbia Railway (BC Rail) livery — #645 (M420 A-unit) and #687 (M420B booster) — with factory-installed DCC and Sound.
Prototype: The MLW M420 is a Canadian-built 2000 hp 4-axle road switcher with the comfort cab ("safety cab"), built by Montreal Locomotive Works 1973–1977. Total production was 103 units across four railways: CN (80), BC Rail (16, including 8 B-units), FdE Chile (2), and Providence & Worcester (5). BC Rail's M420 fleet was a backbone of the BCOL (later BC Rail) mainline through the 1970s–1990s.
