Prototype: The 28-foot pup van is the standard short trailer used in LTL doubles (two pups behind one tractor, linked by a converter dolly) and triples (three pups) configurations — the workhorse of cross-country less-than-truckload freight. The converter dolly is a short single-axle frame with kingpin on top and fifth wheel that lets a second (or third) pup trailer connect behind the first.
Carrier: ABF Freight System (founded 1923 as Arkansas Best Freight) is an Arkansas-based LTL carrier in the iconic red, white, and blue 'ABF' livery — still operating today as the freight subsidiary of ArcBest Corporation. A fixture of US LTL trucking for over a century.
