Description

The Micro Engineering 75-150 is an N scale model of an 80′ open-deck girder bridge — the workhorse short-span bridge of US railroading, used over creeks, drainage culverts, county roads, and any place where the span is short enough that simple I-beam girders can do the job without truss work above. Visible structure below the deck (the girders carry the load), open ties on top so the rail rides directly on the timber baulks.

Prototype: The 80-foot open-deck plate-girder bridge is the prototype workhorse for short crossings — county roads, drainage creeks, ravines. Found on every Class-1 railroad in North America. Plate-girder or rolled-I-beam construction, typically painted railroad-tuscan / black / olive depending on era and road. The 80′ span is the most common length — anything shorter goes to deck-plate or culvert, anything longer needs a through-girder or truss.

Kit: Engineering plastic / metal kit — assemble per instructions, paint your road colour, add Bridge Flex track on top (see ME #11-1xx Bridge Flex with wide ties and guard rails — designed specifically to pair with bridge kits like this).

About Micro Engineering: Micro Engineering is the gold standard for prototypical fine-scale track among serious modellers — known for scale-size moulded ties / tie plates / spike heads, irregular tie spacing that matches real-railroad practice, and fine-scale code-correct rail.
