Description
The Micro Engineering 36-106 is a pack of 250 weathered wood turnout ties for N scale — real wood ties supplied in the graduated longer lengths needed under a turnout, pre-weathered to a naturally aged grey-brown so they look like ties that have been in service for years.
Why turnout-length ties: Under a switch, the prototype uses progressively longer ties to carry both the through route and the diverging route. This assortment gives you those longer lengths so handlaid N scale turnouts sit on correct, convincing timber — cut each tie to final length as your switch geometry requires.
Use: Glue ties to the roadbed on your turnout template, sand the tops level, then spike or solder ME N scale rail (Code 40, 55 or 70) in place. Being pre-weathered, the ties need no staining before tracklaying. Pair with 36-105 regular-length ties for the plain track either side of the switch.
