Description
The Micro Engineering 30-105 is a bulk pack of 15,000 small 1/4" track spikes — fine blackened-steel spikes for handlaying model railroad track. The offset head grips the rail foot and holds it firmly to the tie, just like the prototype.
Which spike size: The small 1/4" spike with its fine point is the classic choice for HO scale handlaying — small enough in the head to look right beside Code 55-83 rail, with enough shank for a firm bite in wood ties. Also widely used for HOn3 and fine-scale work.
Use: Push or press each spike in with fine needle-nose spiking pliers, working alternate sides of the rail to keep gauge true. This bulk pack is the economical way to spike an entire handlaid layout — buy once, spike for years.
