Description
The Micro Engineering 30-101 is a bulk pack of 7,500 large 1/2" track spikes — the classic blackened-steel spikes used to handlay model railroad track. The offset head grips the rail foot and holds it firmly to the tie, just like the prototype.
Which spike size: ME's large 1/2" spike is the workhorse for larger rail and thicker ties — large scale / G gauge trackwork, O scale, and heavy-duty applications like securing rail through tie plates. Its long shank gives maximum holding power in wood roadbed and ties.
Use: Push or press each spike in with fine needle-nose spiking pliers, working alternate sides of the rail to keep gauge true. A bulk pack of this size will handlay a substantial layout — buy once, spike for years.
