The Micro Engineering 26-252 is a pack of insulated rail joiners sized for Code 250 rail. The non-conductive body holds the two rail ends in precise mechanical alignment while electrically isolating one section from the next.
Where insulated joiners earn their keep: block boundaries on DC-controlled layouts, power districts on DCC garden railways, reverse loops and wyes (which must be isolated so a reverser can flip polarity), and isolating powered frogs.
