Description
The Micro Engineering 17-252 is a bulk pack of Code 250 (0.250" high) non-weathered nickel-silver rail for large scale / G gauge track — 8 six-foot lengths, 48 feet of rail in total. Code 250 is the fine-scale choice for large-scale railroading: noticeably closer to prototype proportions than the chunky Code 332 rail supplied with most train-set track.
Why nickel-silver for large scale: Nickel-silver stays conductive outdoors far better than aluminum or brass — its oxide still conducts electricity, so track-powered locomotives keep running with less cleaning. It also solders readily for feeders and takes weathering beautifully for indoor fine-scale displays.
How to use
- Spike or clip into commercial Code 250 tie strips, or handlay on ME Code 250 tie plates and large spikes.
- Join lengths with ME Code 250 rail joiners (aluminum, stainless slip-on, or insulated as required).
- Bends smoothly with a rail bender for sweeping garden-railway curves.
