Description
The Micro Engineering 17-070 is a bulk pack of Code 70 (0.070" high) non-weathered nickel-silver rail — 33 three-foot lengths, 99 feet of raw rail in total. This is the material of choice for handlaying track, building your own turnouts, and scratchbuilding specialty trackwork that no manufacturer offers ready-made.
Why handlay with ME rail: Micro Engineering draws its own rail to accurate cross-section profiles, and it is the same rail used in ME's famous Flex-Trak. Nickel-silver solders cleanly, resists corrosion, and takes weathering solutions well. Code 70 suits HO branch lines and secondary track, HOn3 narrow gauge, and On30 — anywhere lighter prototype rail (roughly 90-110 lb) is being modelled.
How to use
- Spike into wood ties (see ME wood tie packs) or solder to PC-board ties for turnout construction.
- Pair with ME small or medium spikes and Pliobond adhesive for classic handlaying methods.
- Cut with a jeweller's saw or rail nippers; join lengths with ME Code 70 rail joiners.
