Description
The KATO 2-194 is an HO Unitrack expansion track — a single section that telescopes between 212 mm and 252 mm (8-3/8′′ to 9-9/10′′) on a sliding mechanism, used to absorb thermal expansion in long Unitrack mainline runs or to fill awkward variable-length gaps in a track plan.
How it works: A precision sliding joint with double-bonded rail allows the section to extend or retract by 40 mm without losing electrical continuity or alignment. The rails always stay in gauge; the joint absorbs temperature-driven length changes in benchwork or in the Unitrack itself.
KATO HO Unitrack system: Code 83 nickel-silver rail molded into a factory-attached ballasted plastic roadbed, with integrated UniJoiners. Layouts assemble five to ten times faster than sectional or flex track.
