Description
The KATO 176-8960-DCC is the factory-decoded DCC version of KATO's N scale GE ES44AC in CP's "Every Child Matters" commemorative scheme, road number #8757 — CP painted #8757 in orange in 2021 to honour Indigenous children who attended Canada's residential school system and to support the survivors.
Prototype: The GE ES44AC is part of GE's Evolution Series, a 4,400 HP AC-traction road locomotive that became the dominant North American mainline diesel from 2005 onward. CP's fleet wears the candy-red "beaver shield" scheme; selected units have received commemorative wraps.
KATO drivetrain: Twin brass flywheels, low-friction brass bearings, 5-pole skew-wound coreless motor, and all-wheel pickup — KATO's signature for smooth slow-speed running, near-silent operation, and reliable pulling on any track system (Unitrack, Atlas, PECO).
This is the factory-decoded DCC version — ready to run on any NMRA DCC system (Digitrax, NCE, MRC, ESU) straight out of the box.
