Description
The KATO 176-7217-DCC is an N scale GE AC4400CW diesel locomotive painted for Canadian Pacific, road number #9781 — CP's classic red scheme on the AC-traction workhorse that hauled the railway's heavy grain, coal and intermodal tonnage across the prairies and through the mountain grades.
Prototype: The GE AC4400CW is a 4,400 HP AC-traction road locomotive, built from 1993 onward and bought in large numbers by CP for heavy-haul service. Its low-speed lugging ability made it the standard power on CP's bulk trains for two decades.
KATO drivetrain: Twin brass flywheels, low-friction bearings, 5-pole skew-wound motor, and all-wheel pickup — KATO's signature for smooth slow-speed running, near-silent operation, and reliable pulling on any track system (Unitrack, Atlas, PECO).
This is the DCC-equipped version — fitted with a digital decoder and ready to run on any NMRA-compliant DCC system (Digitrax, NCE, MRC, ESU) straight out of the box.
