Fleet conversion economics: the #58 is Kadee's scale-head evolution of the legendary No.5 — same all-metal construction and Magne-Matic reliability, but with a head and knuckle shrunk to near-prototype proportions. Once you've seen scale couplers between two cars, the oversized originals are hard to un-see. This bulk pack covers 25 cars' worth in one box.
You get 25 pair of #58 couplers with medium (9/32") centerset shanks, 25 pair of #634 centering springs and 10 spare knuckle springs. Gearboxes are not included — the #58 drops into #213/#232/#234/#242 boxes and most manufacturer moulded-on pockets, and it's interchangeable with the No.5, #28, #118, #148 and #158. Note: for shallow moulded-on pockets, Kadee recommends the #158 Whisker instead; avoid mounting metal couplers in metal boxes to prevent electrical shorts.
