Description
The Kadee #237 is a pair of specialized pliers for adjusting the trip pin (the small wire under the coupler head) to its proper height. Most factory-installed Kadee couplers need a small height tweak after install — these pliers do it without bending the trip pin out of shape.
Why you need them
- Trip pins must clear the rails by a specific amount (use the #205 / #206 height gauge to check)
- A trip pin too low will catch on uncouplers (or the rails) at the wrong moment
- A trip pin too high won't activate uncouplers reliably
