Description
The Durango Press 55 West Side Lumber Caboose is an HOn3 craftsman kit modelling the charmingly homespun caboose of California's West Side Lumber Company. Logging railroads built their cabooses in company shops from whatever was on hand, and the West Side's diminutive crummy — a favourite of narrow gauge fans — has exactly that improvised, hard-working character.
No HOn3 logging train is complete without a caboose bringing up the rear behind a string of log flats. Durango Press kits use cast detail parts and traditional craftsman construction, and this one builds into a real showpiece with careful painting and weathering. Trucks and couplers are sold separately.
