Description
The Circuitron 5400 AR-1 Automatic Reverse Circuit is an automatic train reversing circuit — flips the direction of DC track power whenever the Opto-Sensor is covered (or a pushbutton is pressed) for point-to-point automation.
What it does: Changes track-power direction when the Opto-Sensor (sold separately) is covered by an approaching train. Perfect for test tracks, window displays, point-to-point mine trains, or automatic reverse-loop operation on small DC layouts. Pushbuttons may also be connected for manual reversing. 5 A capacity relay handles big locomotives.
- Trigger: Opto-Sensor (covered) or external pushbutton
- Relay rating: 5 A capacity
- Power: 12 V DC input
- Form factor: 2 × 3 inch PCB
- For: DC test track, window display, point-to-point automation
- Circuitron SKU: 5400 (Walthers 800-5400)
Tip: For DCC reverse loops, you want a true DCC autoreverser (e.g. Digitrax AR1 / NCE Auto-SW). The AR-1 is a DC track-power direction reverser, not a phase-flip module.
About Circuitron: A USA-made model-railroad electronics specialist (Maryville, Illinois) founded in the 1970s. Famous for the industry-standard Tortoise slow-motion under-table switch machine and its surface-mount cousin the SMAIL. The full range covers detection (block detectors, Opto-Sensor grade-crossing logic), automation (auto-reversers, external relays, twin-coil alternators), signal / lighting electronics (alternating flashers, ditch-light oscillators, strobe drivers), power supplies, and a complete set of Tortoise / SMAIL replacement parts plus the solderless ZipZ connection system. Most circuits work with AC, DC, or DCC track power unless specifically noted otherwise.
