Description
The Circuitron 5203 DT-3 Grade Crossing Detector Single Direction is a single-direction grade-crossing detection circuit — Circuitron's value-priced version of the DT-2 for one-way mainline situations.
What it does: Uses proven OptoElectronic detection (Opto-Sensors mounted between the ties) to produce accurate grade-crossing action for any train length — from a single locomotive to a 100-car train — when the train approaches from one defined direction. No rolling-stock modifications. Works with AC, DC, or DCC; any scale.
- Detection method: OptoElectronic (Opto-Sensors required, sold separately)
- Direction: Single direction (use DT-2 for bidirectional)
- Train length: Independent — 1 to 100+ cars
- Track power: AC / DC / DCC (any system)
- Power: 10–18 V AC or DC
- Output: Controls Circuitron flashers, BR-3 bell, external relays
- Circuitron SKU: 5203 (Walthers 800-5203)
Tip: Step up to the DT-2 (5202) if your crossing sees traffic in both directions.
About Circuitron: A USA-made model-railroad electronics specialist (Maryville, Illinois) founded in the 1970s. Famous for the industry-standard Tortoise slow-motion under-table switch machine and its surface-mount cousin the SMAIL. The full range covers detection (block detectors, Opto-Sensor grade-crossing logic), automation (auto-reversers, external relays, twin-coil alternators), signal / lighting electronics (alternating flashers, ditch-light oscillators, strobe drivers), power supplies, and a complete set of Tortoise / SMAIL replacement parts plus the solderless ZipZ connection system. Most circuits work with AC, DC, or DCC track power unless specifically noted otherwise.
