Description
Santa Fe's six 3460-class "Super Hudsons" came from Baldwin in 1937 for high-speed passenger service between Chicago and La Junta; in December 1937 No. 3461 ran 2,227 miles non-stop from Los Angeles to Chicago on the Fast Mail, a record that still stands. Only 3463 survives, on display in Topeka. Broadway Limited's first run offers prototype versions from as-delivered through post-1942 appearance, the 3463 as it appears today, fantasy schemes, an unlettered version and painted brass — all with hand-crafted brass boiler, cab and tender body on diecast chassis.
This version: ATSF 3460 Class 4-6-4, Unlettered, Paragon4 Sound/DC/DCC, Smoke. The Paragon4 version carries BLI's Paragon4 Sound & Control system with synchronized puffing smoke and chuff sound, variable smoke intensity and timing, an integral dual-mode DCC decoder with Back EMF for the best slow-speed running in DC and DCC, GoPack capacitors and prototypically accurate ATSF 3460 Class 4-6-4 sounds.
