Description
The Howard Fogg is Union Pacific's last remaining boiler car and a fixture of the railroad's steam excursions. Built by American Car & Foundry in 1949 as a baggage-dormitory, it became a boiler-baggage-dorm in 1962, was renumbered 209 in 1987, and was named in 1996 for the railroad artist Howard Fogg. A head-end-power generator was added in 2000. Today it still travels with No. 844 and Big Boy No. 4014, with crew sleeping rooms, a shower, a laundry and a small lounge on board.
Broadway Limited's first HO run of the car presents it in a two-tone gray fantasy scheme — never worn by the real car, but a natural match for other two-tone gray equipment. This sound-equipped version plays onboard car sounds, triggered with the included magnetic wand.
Model features: Era-specific roof, truck, underbody and window details · Etched-metal side grilles and fan covers where applicable · Timken roller-bearing trucks · Detailed interior modeled on No. 209 · Dimmable interior lighting with finger-touch control · Onboard sound activated by magnetic wand · Two operating Kadee-compatible couplers · Runs on Code 70, 83 and 100 rail · Minimum radius 18".
