General Electric introduced the ES44 in 2002 as the flagship of its Evolution Series, and with close to 8,000 units built the ES44AC became one of the most successful modern road locomotives in North America. Broadway Limited's all-new HO scale ES44AC follows the approach of its popular diecast EMD SD70ACe: a diecast body and chassis, brass handrails and horn castings, road-specific details and premium painting. This model wears the scheme of Norfolk Southern's one-of-a-kind "Chicago Landmark" special unit, a striking commemorative livery that stands out in any modern NS consist, lettered for Norfolk Southern #8183.
The Paragon4 version delivers BLI's Paragon4 Sound & Control system with ROLLING THUNDER, a dual-mode decoder with Back EMF for smooth DC and DCC operation, synchronized and prototypically accurate GE ES44AC diesel sounds, and variable-intensity user-adjustable smoke. Headlight, rear light, cab light, numberboards and ditch lights are all individually controllable.
