Built by the thousands in the 1930s and 1940s, 2-bay offset-side hoppers moved coal from mine tipples to power plants, steel mills and ports across North America — and many finished their careers in company ballast service. This special 2-pack depicts Clinchfield maintenance-of-way ballast cars, road numbers 55266 and 55299, a distinctive addition to any Appalachian coal-country layout.
The Atlas Trainman HO models are affordable, ready-to-run cars with free-rolling 50-ton trucks, blackened metal wheels, detailed brake gear and body-mounted AccuMate couplers.
