Description
The Atlas 82 is a 4-pack of HO scale steel-girder pier extensions — they sit on top of Atlas 81 piers (150-81) or any flat abutment, raising bridge decks an additional 1′′ (25 mm) and adding a riveted-steel detail course typical of mid-20th-century mainline bridges.
Prototype: Steel-girder pier caps are common on bridges crossing wide rivers where heavy spans demand both height and load capacity — the girder visually separates the concrete pier from the plate-girder or truss span above.
Layout uses: Stack between Atlas 81 piers and Atlas bridges (150-880/881/882/883/884/885) for taller crossings, or use directly on benchwork as a short abutment.
