Description
Atlas 704 is an HO scale signal tower (interlocking tower) kit, based on the typical North American two-storey design with a brick first floor and a wood-frame upper cabin. These towers were posted wherever complex trackwork demanded close supervision — diamond crossings, terminal throats, drawbridges — and the upper cabin housed the operators who threw the levers for the switches and signals below.
Parts are moulded in colour, with printed window glazing, a viewable interior through the upper-floor windows, and an external stairway. As built the model measures 2-5/8 × 3-1/8" (66 × 79 mm). Drop it next to a junction, an Atlas Code 83 Custom-Line crossing (#571–#577), or a roundhouse approach (#709) for a fully animated interlocking scene; the #705 telephone-pole shanty makes a natural companion as the trackside crew building.
