Description
The Atlas 584 is an HO Code 83 left-hand remote switch machine — the small above-benchwork solenoid that converts an Atlas Code 83 manual turnout (or replaces a damaged remote machine) into an electrically-thrown, panel-controllable turnout. Left-hand mate of Atlas 585 (RH).
How it works. A twin-coil solenoid drive sits beside the turnout, mechanically linked to the throwbar. Wired to a momentary toggle, Atlas 56 Switch Control Box, or DCC stationary decoder, a short pulse on either coil throws the points in the chosen direction. The smallest HO switch machine on the market — a real advantage on a tight-spaced layout. Fits Code 83 Custom-Line turnouts, True-Track turnouts, and Code 83 Snap-Switches.
Use to convert a manual turnout to remote. The standard mounting interface lets you replace the manual lever on Atlas 543 (RH 18") or 586 (LH manual machine) with this remote unit. DC or DCC-agnostic — the machine doesn't care about your track power system.
