Description
The Atlas 577 is an HO Code 83 Snap Track 90° crossing — the perpendicular diamond crossing, where two tracks cross at a perfect right angle.
Where 90° fits. The classic "X" at urban grade crossings, four-way railroad junctions, and complex interlockings where two mainlines meet at exactly 90°. Shortest of the diamond family in overall length, and the easiest to fit into a layout grid. Wheel-transfer is sharp — trains should slow through a 90° diamond on a prototype, and the same is true on a model where coupler swing and short-wheelbase wobble can derail at speed.
Build. Code 83 nickel-silver rail on brown molded ties, insulated frogs on both diagonals so the two crossing routes can be wired into separate DC blocks or DCC power districts.
