Description
The Atlas 571 is an HO Code 83 Snap Track 12.5° crossing — the sharp-angle diamond crossing that lets two tracks cross at a shallow 12.5° intersection, the right geometry where industrial leads cross each other or a branch line slips under a mainline at a near-parallel angle.
Where 12.5° crossings appear. Sharp-angle (low-degree) crossings show up in industrial complexes where multiple spurs converge at slight angles, at the junction of a yard lead with a mainline that's nearly parallel, and at port/dock trackwork where space is tight and tracks fan out from a single throat. The shallow angle means a longer crossing piece overall, but the wheel-transfer is smoother than a steeper diamond.
Build. Code 83 nickel-silver rail on brown molded ties, NMRA-compliant railhead, pre-fitted joiners. The crossing has insulated frogs on both diagonals — the gauntlet is electrically isolated so DC blocks can be assigned independently.
