Description
The Atlas 565 is an HO Code 83 #8 Custom-Line Mark IV left-hand turnout — the longest, wide-frog mainline turnout, for high-speed passing sidings and crossovers where 30+ scale-mph diverging speed matters.
#8 geometry. 1-in-8 frog ratio ≈ 7°10′ frog angle, ~35 mph scale speed through the diverging route — the standard mainline frog on prototype railroads, used at all interlocking-protected crossovers, double-mainline-to-double-mainline junctions, and passing siding ends where the diverging speed restriction kills capacity. Long turnout (≈11" overall), but worth the real estate where train speed matters.
Mark IV build. Blackened metal powerable frog, rivet-less switch points, same geometry as Code 100 Custom Line. Use with under-table switch machines for clean appearance.
