Description
The Atlas 562 is an HO Code 83 #4 Custom-Line Mark IV right-hand turnout — the RH mate to Atlas 561 (#4 LH), the tight-radius turnout for yard ladders, industrial sidings, and any spur where space matters more than mainline speed.
#4 geometry. 1-in-4 frog ratio ≈ 14°15′ frog angle, which translates to ~15 mph scale speed through the diverging route. The trade-off vs. a #6 (Atlas 564) is restricted speed: fast operation on the divergent route causes wheel wobble. Reserve #4s for yard and industrial work; use #6s (Atlas 563/564) on the mainline and #8s (Atlas 565/566) for high-speed passing sidings.
Mark IV build. Blackened metal frog (powerable, better wheel pickup, more prototype-looking); rivet-less switch points (smoother throw, fewer derailments); identical geometry to Code 100 Custom Line for drop-in Code 100→Code 83 conversion of existing plans.
