Description
The Atlas 541 is an HO Code 83 right-hand 18-inch radius Snap-Switch remote turnout — one-piece turnout with an attached above-benchwork solenoid switch machine, ready to wire to a control panel and throw electrically.
Geometry that drops in. The diverging route is an 18" radius curve matching Atlas 532 (18" curve) and 533/534 (half/third sections), so a #541 splices into an existing 18" mainline without geometry conversions. The frog is plastic (insulated) so wheels coast through without short-circuit risk — this matters on DC layouts running multiple locomotives, and on simpler DCC layouts where you don't want to bother with auto-reverser or frog polarity wiring. Each turnout ships with a 1/3 18" radius curve section attached to the diverging leg, so the curved exit equals a full 18" radius arc when joined to standard track.
The attached switch machine is a twin-coil solenoid built into the turnout housing; wire it to any momentary toggle, Atlas Cab Control Box (56), or DCC accessory decoder for stationary-decoder control. Convert-from-manual? Replace the manual machine on Atlas 543 with a #65 or #66 remote machine and you get the same result.
