Description
The Atlas 540 is an HO Code 83 left-hand 18-inch radius Snap-Switch remote turnout — one-piece turnout with attached above-benchwork solenoid switch machine, the left-hand mate to Atlas 541 (RH 18" remote).
Geometry that drops in. Diverging route is an 18" radius curve matching Atlas 532 (18" curve) and 533/534 (half/third sections), so the #540 splices into an existing 18" mainline without geometry conversion pieces. The frog is plastic (insulated) — wheels coast through without short-circuit risk, no powered-frog wiring needed. Each turnout ships with a 1/3 18" radius curve section attached to the diverging leg, so the curved exit equals a full 18" arc when joined to standard track.
The attached remote switch machine is a twin-coil solenoid built into the turnout housing. Wire it to a momentary toggle, Atlas 56 Switch Control Box, or a DCC stationary decoder; either direction throw needs just a short pulse. Works above or under the benchwork.
