Description
The Atlas 532 is an HO Code 83 Snap Track 18-inch radius curved track, six-pack — half a circle at the all-around 18" radius that has been the de-facto standard for HO Snap Track loops since the 1960s. If you're building your first HO layout, this is the curve.
Geometry. Six 30° sections complete a half-circle on an 18" radius; twelve form a full circle on a 36" × 36" footprint. That fits within a 4-foot-deep shelf with clearance for a fascia and backdrop, and is wide enough to run 4-axle and most 6-axle diesels, 50-foot freight cars, and steam through 4-8-2 without serious overhang. The 18" radius is also where Atlas's matched Snap-Switch turnout family lives — the curved leg of an Atlas 541 or 543 turnout has the same 18" radius, so you can splice a turnout into the curve without breaking geometry.
Build quality. Code 83 nickel-silver rail, brown molded ties with centerline nail holes for #2540 track nails, pre-fitted rail joiners.
