The USRA double-sheathed box car was a First World War standard design that soldiered on for decades, from class-one railroads to shortlines and work service. Atlas’s N scale model wears Piedmont & Northern lettering as #1104. The Piedmont & Northern was a Carolina interurban turned freight hauler, and its box cars carried textiles and general freight between the mills of the Piedmont.
