Description
Terminal rail joiners are the standard way to feed power into a model railroad track without soldering wires directly to the rails. Each joiner has a small pigtail wire already attached — just slip the joiner onto the rail end and run the wire down through the layout deck to your power bus.
The Atlas #465 is a pair (one red, one black) of terminal rail joiners sized for HO Code 83 True-Track sections. Use them at the feed point of each electrical block to deliver clean DC or DCC power to that section of track.
How to use
- Slip one joiner onto each rail end (typically at the end of a True-Track section).
- Drill a small hole through the layout deck beneath the joiner and route the pigtail wires through it.
- Connect to your DC power pack or DCC booster bus, observing polarity (red = inside / north rail, black = outside / south rail by convention).
- Use one pair every 6-10 feet on a DCC bus to maintain reliable voltage along the layout.
- For non-True-Track plain Atlas Code 83, use Atlas #560 plain joiners and solder feeders, or use the same #465 with the roadbed trimmed away.
