ALCo answered the horsepower race again in 1965 with the Century 630, a 3,000-hp six-axle powered by the 16-cylinder 251E and the first North American production diesel built with an AC traction alternator — a technology every builder soon adopted. Canadian National's Montreal-built C-630Ms hauled heavy tonnage across the system into the early 1990s, among the last big ALCo-design power running in North America; this model depicts CN #2005.
