The Atlas 40006097 is an N scale ALCO C424 low short hood road switcher in Canadian Pacific (CP) tuscan-red script lettering livery, road number #4200, DC-equipped (DCC-ready 6-pin).
Prototype
The ALCO C-424 was a 2,400 hp four-axle (B-B) road switcher powered by the V12 ALCO 251B prime mover, built between 1963 and 1967 — 60 units delivered in total. CP took 40 C-424s in two batches: an early high-hood group (CP class DRS-24c) and a later low-hood group (DRS-24d), used in fast freight and secondary passenger service. The C424s remained in CP service into the 1990s before being retired or rebuilt.
