Description
The Atlas 40005074 is an N scale ALCO FB-1 cabless booster unit in classic Canadian Pacific (CP) tuscan-red and gray fast-freight livery, road number #4404, DC ready-to-run (DCC-ready).
Prototype
The ALCO FB-1 was the cabless booster ('B-unit') matching the FA-1 cab unit — 1,500 hp B-B truck, ALCO 244 prime mover, built 1946–1950 with the same carbody as the FA-1 but no operator cab. CP took 12 FB-1s (#4404–4415) from Montreal Locomotive Works alongside its FA-1 cab units in 1949, positioning them as middle units in A-B-A and A-B-B-A transcontinental fast-freight lashups. #4404 was the first FB-1 delivered to CP.
